Dose Decides the Claim
Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid. It loosens the bonds between dead surface cells. At exfoliant strength it clears buildup. At drug strength it is regulated differently. The FDA dandruff monograph requires 1.8 to 3% for an anti-dandruff drug claim.
Why We Ship 0.4%
Our exfoliating shampoo contains 0.4% salicylic acid. That is below the monograph threshold, deliberately. It clears residue so actives reach the follicle, without the irritation a drug dose can bring. We do not call it an anti-dandruff shampoo, because at this dose it is not one.
What Pairs With It
Charcoal adsorbs oil and residue that acid alone does not lift. Argan restores lipids after cleansing so the barrier is not left bare. Use once or twice weekly at the scalp, then condition mid-lengths to ends.
What It Will Not Do
It will not treat a fungal condition. Malassezia needs an antifungal, not an exfoliant. If flaking persists with redness or pain, see a dermatologist.
